OH Brings Water to Villagers in Andokope, Ghana

Orphan's Heroes Be a hero.
Orphans' Heroes Brings Clean Water to the Village of Andokope, Ghana

Andokope is a lovely traditional village about a 15-minute drive from the town of Hohoe.  There are over 800 people living in Andokope, of which 216 are children.

Up until August 2010, villagers were walking two miles to collect filthy water from the river in buckets and bowls. This water was a breeding ground for disease.

We are happy to announce that due to the generosity of donors Jon and Paula Ball of Los Gatos, CA, Robert and Susan Majerus of Greeley, CO, Kent and Patricia Mills of Windsor, CO, the Lindholm Foundation of Laguna Niguel, CA, and the Carrico Family Foundation of Greeley, CO, Orphans' Heroes was able to address this issue. In August 2010, a water pump was installed in a central location in the village. Thank you to Nicholas Victus of Hohoe, Ghana for coordinating and overseeing the project.

Currently of the 216 children in the village, only a handful attend school as they have to walk very far to another village. Orphans' Heroes plans to build a school in Andokope. To read more about the needs of the villagers in Andokope, or donate toward the school, please visit our website at orphansheroes.org.

The spacious site for the school in Andokope is centrally located in the village.

Villagers are happy these days, as their walk to collect water has become much shorter.

Amnesty International: 2010 so far: Burma, Shell & Gaza

July 2010

News from Amnesty International

Dear Supporter

Looking back over the past six months, I'm extremely proud of all we've achieved together, from buying radios for Burma to taking action for individuals at risk.

I'm currently waiting for news of Troy Davis' hearing, a case that could be a major turning point in the battle against the death penalty in the USA. We'll let you know as soon as there are any developments.

Thank you for standing up for human rights. We couldn't do it without you.

Sincerely,
Kate Allen
