It's Been a Wild Ride

For almost 15 years now Common Dreams has been providing breaking news & views to the progressive community. 365-days a year.

It's been a wild ride. And we've been through a lot together.

The explosive growth of the internet. The stolen election of 2000. Bush/Cheney. 9/11. Iraq. Afghanistan. Torture and Rendition. Global warming. "Hope", "Change" and disappointment. The BP catastrophe. Economic collapse and bailouts of Wall Street. Uprisings throughout the Mideast -- and the Midwest. Nuclear meltdowns. And, in the wake of Citizens United, almost complete corporate control over our politics.

But if there is hope - and we are all optimists here, the voices of truth must be heard.

Our small staff and network of volunteers work hard to help counter the 24 hour profusion of profit-driven “infotainment”. To counter the corporate media world of endless war, phony debates, celebrity and sideshows.

Common Dreams hopes to be around for at least another 15 years to provide you with smart, honest voices standing up to injustice - and providing constructive ways forward.

Thousands of small contributors have sustained our work through the years. But as expenses rise we must expand our base of contributors. Or, Common Dreams may not make it.

We rely on our readers - no advertising, no corporate contributions, no selling our email lists. Every few months we conduct brief fund-raising drives which provide us with most of our annual budget.
